Regret

And each time I look at her, I see it in her eyes.

Is it disappointment or is she very wise?

I try to hide my feelings, a joke, a smile, a laugh,

Yet inside I am dying, can’t wait for this to pass.

Another day has passed us by,

Another chance we’ve missed.

And as I on the bed here lie.

I’m feeling out of it!

I think of all the opportunities, given unto me,

I think of all mistakes I’ve made, cos I was blind to see

The obstacles upon my path, placed there by the other.

How very, very sad of me, I’m supposed to be a Mother!

The eyes, the window to the soul

Is what I’m looking at.

The eyes, the window to the soul

Is what is staring back!

Have I become a failure? Is that what she sees?

Am I an embarrassment? I’m asking on my knees.

If I could change the way things are, I’d do it in a flash.

To see the pride back in those eyes, will be worth all of my cash.

I want to be her hero again, I want to see her smile,

I want her life to be the best, not only for a while

But each and every other day that’s granted unto her,

Because despite the troubles, she’s my light when’er she’s near.
