Pretty pink sky

I don't want to sound like a nihilist

but part of me thinks life

and the universe

are a lot simpler than we care to admit

I mean

What if the spirit world doesn't exist

As humans we're aware of our mortality

and we feel like we have to

make everything make sense

Everything has a meaning

Everything is connected

The earth

The sun

The moon

Our moods are all affected

We have destinies

And soulmates

And one day

We'll see everyone we love

at the pearly gates

I'll admit

That all sounds great

But what if it's not true

What if it's all just a story

someone told

to keep us in line

Or maybe they're just things

we have to believe

in order to keep living and getting by

Because if this is it

If we just live and die

Then tell me why

I get this feeling

We're all connected

when I see a pretty pink sky

Maybe I'm conditioned think this way

Or maybe

There is more going on

at the end of the day
