Panic

Panic and I

Are the bestest of friends

Attached to the hip in fact,

Practically inseparable.

She is the first person I go to

In every situation

The first to consume me

Never anger, or sadness

Or hatred or happiness

Or joy or indifference

Just, sheer panic

To the point where I fear a heart attack

I know its unreasonable

And so… unnecessary

But I cant help it

My heart feels suffocated

And every negative outcome

Floods my brain in seconds

The thought of failure

Making me paralysed

Even when everyone says breath

I feel consumed by the lack of air

The pressure in my chest

The loss of words

Panic and I,

Are the bestest of friends.

An unbreakable chain

That drags us down

Anchoring to the spot

Never wanting to reach out

To anyone else

But caution
