ON THE NATURE OF DAYLIGHT

It’s her birthday,

She sits quietly with the company of herself

No cake to celebrate with,

Except the noisy silence all around

Her feet move on their own

Her mind and body seem to be running further and further away from each other Her soul floats about in an endless abyss

Hoping someone will notice

With each step she takes,

The coldness eats into her heart

Where the last flame exists

And still trying to burn

She fights herself

With everything she's got

But her heart seems to have a mind of its own

She feels the tears coming

But refuses to surrender

To the world

And to herself

Yet her eyes want no part in it,

So, gives out

She hears herself cry

So achingly,

That something breaks

For the very ground on which she walks has been replaced with something nonexistent but wait,

She refuses to give in

For the world has taken all that she has,

Including her sanity

So, what more is there to lose?
