My Body Is A Vessel

My body is a vessel

My body is a vehicle

I used to want children

Before I turned cynical

I turn right and I turn left

My friends are married, and kids are next

I tried wanting the same

I wonder what had changed

And I celebrate them

The more and more I age

At the back of my mind

And in the pit of my chest

A seed remains unwatered

In my womb of cobwebs

My body is a vehicle

My body is a vessel

For a soul to take shape

Metamorphing into the physical

Have I abandoned my duty?

Have I thwarted my potential?

Am I essentially saying

My child is inconsequential?

And if in the matter of baggage and dna

I choose not to transfer

Will my body really be nothing

If I am not a mother?

My body is a vessel

It needs something to hold

So how fortunate it is

That I am a soul.
