Lovely Friend

Joyful you are in the crowd, chaos and havoc fear you, for you are peace,

Nature looks to you for inspiration; its waters wish to flow like your hair,

The blueprint to happiness hides within you, in those firm yet gentle walls,

You are an angel from heaven, how they must miss you up there,

Grateful I am to know you, this miracle called friendship,

The closest to perfection I will ever be, is right next to you,

The air around you will never feel the world’s envy for your touch,

How fortunate am I to be your friend, to be graced with your affection!

Yet still I long for more; I want what I cannot attain

I wish to mean more, to be greater than this role

I know your joy can be shared with mine

But all I will ever be is your friend.

And if that is how far we will ever grow,

I can still thank fate for bringing us together
