Water is a basic requirement in our life. Experts recommend that males consume 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of water daily and females 11.5 cups (2.7 liters). But environmental factors such as temperature and other health conditions may affect your water needs. The benefits of drinking warm water are clearly mentioned in Ayurveda. Warm water stimulates appetite, helps in digestion,
flatulence, cleans the urinary bladder and is good for diseases like throat infection, cough and cold, fever, hiccups and running nose. People who consume very little water and substitute it with tea or coffee cannot fulfil the fluid requirements of the body. Hence drinking warm water should be a habit. People however should follow a few rules while drinking warm water. It should not be consumed too hot and not before or after a meal. It should not be consumed in standing or sleeping position.
