I Will Prevail

I came to being,

Too long ago,

For you to even imagine,

Or comprehend.

Everything flourished,

On the land,

In the sea,

In the air.

The colours vivid,

The air and water clean,

The eco-systems,

Were in perfect balance.

I provided nourishment,

When humans came to be,

I provided shelter,

I provided protection.

Sadly that appears,

To be forgotten,

For decades now,

I have been abused.

The pillage,

The rape of the forest,

The constant pollution,

Poisoning the air and water.

The effects have been,

Compounding and today,

Humanity is feeling,

The backlash of their deeds.

I am hopeful and,

I shall prevail,

For I will always,

Be a greater force.

A growing few are,

Finding ways to,

Gradually undo the damage,

To the eco-system.

Nature and humans,

Can live together,

In harmony and balance,

With mutual respect.

I shall prevail,

And I am willing,

To be as I was,

When I came to be.
