I Want To Be A Tree

“I want to be a singer!”

Exclaimed a younger me

But now that I am bigger,

I want to be a tree.

A tree takes what it takes

A tree gives what it gives

It does not ever take

More than it actually needs.

A tree takes its time

Only growing magnificent

It does not wish it stayed young

It does not care if people listened.

A tree, a provider

Of shelter from the elements

Of air that we take in

And asks of nothing in return.

A tree stands tall,

It changes with the seasons,

It is beautiful through it all

It does not need a reason.

The wind could wail,

The rain could beat,

But a tree does not fall easy

When its roots are deep.

So I want to be a tree

I want to reach for the sun

While I stay grounded

And fall when I am done.
