I Feel Empty

I feel empty,

so I try filling myself up with food,

thinking that I will feel full.

I feel alone,

so I call up all the people I know,

thinking they will be excited

to talk to me too.

I feel tired,

so I cozy up in bed,

thinking life will turn around.

I don’t feel sleepy.

I stay up all night,

thinking

of all the worst things that could happen.

I can’t go out alone,

thinking something bad will happen to me.

So I stay at home,

where no one wants me.

I try to reason

with all the people around me,

but I still end up falling behind.

I have dreams and goals

that I want to accomplish.

And to see them through,

I stay alive.
