I cannot live

I cannot live in lost dreams anymore;

They are holding me back and making me poor.

I cannot waste away in the past;

My memories will always last.

I cannot hold on to what is gone;

I must open my hands to see what I’ve won.

I cannot live fully until I am free,

And I am the only one who holds the key.

I cannot give my heart again,

If I am always holding on to the pain.

I cannot be who I should be

If it’s others I listen to, and not me.

I cannot live in another’s shadow;

My own seeds I need to sow.

I cannot worry about things that may not occur;

Making my life now, just a blur.

I cannot hold others responsible,

When the holes in my heart, only I can fill.

I can no longer live as I have before.

The time has come for me to soar.
