Hollow instruments

Just breathe, pull the air deep into your core.

Rest now, close your eyes, and don’t worry anymore.

You are safe, you are loved, you are whole.

Don’t try to fill your emptiness, but see the purpose of that hole.

Maybe we were made to be hollow inside;

An instrument that transforms vibrations into full-bodied sound,

that echoes compassion till harmony is found,

and ensures that the strumming of love is heard far and wide.

Imagine the sounds that would then move the air.

Creating waves we can ride to a place where we all deeply care.

Care about ourselves, our neighbour, and all of nature;

Care enough to kill all violence and learn to nurture.

So breathe. Swallow the same air that electrifies all of humanity.

It is the air that unites us and vanquishes all vanity.

Air does not soothe our throat because it has been earned.

Likewise, love only because you listened to your heart that yearned.
