Her Self-Pity is An Ocean

Her self-pity is an ocean

And she does not know how to swim

Day in and day out

She beats at the waves thinking she would win.

The sun could be shining,

As she picks a four-leaf clover,

And you’d still find her whining,

About some person she did not win over.

“The world is out to judge me,”

She learnt a long time ago

“So I shall judge them first.”

And with everyone, she did so.

She brings her armour to every party,

Sword in hand and shield intact.

It does not matter if it is heavy,

Someone is bound to stab my back.

“I have friends,”

She counts them by hand

But stops short at three

Then tries and tries again.

Her self-pity is an ocean

And she does not know how to swim

And how could she learn

When all she asks is, “Why her? Why him?”
