For Our Friends Without Voices

Introduction

I wrote this poem for the animals that are about to lose their homes in Singapore.

Poem

We share this space

Feathers, furs and scales

We're losing this race

No roosts, no hiding place

Where are our greens

Forest, jungles and vales

We're being hedged in

Insular and in-between

Facing a bleak horizon

Roads, fences and walls

Into cage contraptions

A condemned judgement

A hearty beseech to all

Fly, climb and crawl

In silence we call

We share this space, after all

End.
