Father's Daughter

You are your father's daughter after all

I never understood why I had to stand so

tall

why my dad put the weight of the world on

my shoulders

Couldn't he wait till I was a little older

That weight was felt by him as well

This world we live in, we both kind of fell

I wish I could have saved him

I would have given a reaching limb

Maybe then he wouldn't be so broken

The words he said could have been unspoken

Maybe then he'd be a dad

Sometimes I get sad

Cause I crave the kid that I could have been

If his life was different when he turned ten

Maybe then I could have a better friend

And that father I wanted wouldn't have been

pretend
