Title: Even in Sandstorms

Lupus

Not only did it take my smile away,

It even took my tears away.

When it hurts the first time,

You cry.

When it hurts the second time,

You cry.

When it hurts the third time,

You cry.

But when it hurts over and over,

When you pick up the pieces

Only to break again and again,

The tears stop.

You feel defeated.

A bottomless void

That sinks deeper and deeper.

Then something happens inside you.

You change.

You become the unbreakable.

You become the fight.

You become the light.

The kind of light that glows.

The kind of glow that glitters.

The kind of glitter that falls like dust.

The kind of dust that settles

Across the vast Sahara.

Peaceful

Even in sandstorm.

Even in quicksand.
