Life put together a butterfly and a leaf

shiny gaudy loud creature a sturdy stable leaf

A place to rest to grow to become

Butterfly wings, fleeting, an illusion?

An imprint for the future

Caterpillar emerges a role to complete

needs to consume leaf, must consume the leaf

The leaf remains stable, steadfast, ignoring caterpillar eating

Away its very existence, ignoring ignoring ignoring

The caterpillar gorges on leaf’s gifts blossoming ,a chrysallis

Leaf can only see chrysalis, the beauty reflecting sacrifice,

Blinded again, dazzled, believing

Leaf knows nothing of the inner life of chrysalis

Deceived, blinded, chrysalis magic

Betrayal butterfly emerges

Leaf knows……not again…never again
