Bullying
A new phenomena it is not,
But the way bullying is done,
Is more insidious today,
Due to the advent of technology.
Cyberbullying and now,
AI adds to it all,
As images can be manipulated,
Giving a false impression.
Many suffer in silence,
Especially young children,
And teenagers,
Until it breaks them.
Suicide is a way out,
That the victims feel,
Will release them,
For the consistent torment.
The perpetrators,
Are not always identified,
And even so,
May not face any repercussions.
The root of the problem,
Is the question of what values,
Are children and teenagers,
Learning from their environment?
What are the behaviours,
That are being modelled at home,
By parents and older children,
What about adults in general?
The issue is not merely,
About punishment,
To deter bullying,
But addressing the root cause.
Just look around us,
And observe the way,
People behave in general,
Perhaps there lies your answer?
Observe how people,
Hide behind their keyboards,
To create situations,
To stir up matters?
Listen to what and the way,
People talk to one another,
There are so many telling signs,
Yet they appear to be the norm today.
Point not a finger at others,
But let us first and foremost,
Be aware and evaluate,
Our own behaviour.
