Broken skin:

Tonight the devil called again

Demanded payment in broken skin

A drop of blood to stop the flow

Of all the thoughts pouring down

like the Zambezi over Victoria Falls

Crushing me against the rocks.

A fair price, don’t you say?

A small cut for air to breathe, filling my lungs again.

Will it ever end?

Did I sign a contract to my death?

My blood his ink, his pen a blade so thin

The picture seemingly random lines

On his canvas, my skin.
