Beautiful lies

I loved the beautiful lies you told,

So carefully carved and bold.

They wrapped me in their outstretched arms,

And silenced all the waking alarms.

Your beautiful lies I chose to believe

Though I knew, one day, they would cause me to grieve.

They flowed so smoothly from your lips,

And quenched my thirst with every sip.

The beautiful lies came without a blink,

And kept me afloat when I felt I would sink.

They showed me a world I wanted to see,

A place I yearned for, so desperately.

Your beautiful lies, when repeated to my soul,

In a time of need, made me whole.

And the beauty you spun with your web of lies,

I found comfort in, so many times.

For you calmed my worries and my cries,

Each time you told one of your beautiful lies.

But beautiful lies are all they were,

Never would they be anything more.
