Act 1

By Sihle Ludonga

I would say that I act quite a lot.

I act natural.

Idk if I’m a good actor.

I can put on a performance.

Try show you an image of what I think you’ll approve.

I’m not a good actor,

I have cracks in my character.

I used to feel like I didn’t have to act around them

but I perform at home now.

I act unnatural.

Cracks always show,

I’m not a good actor.

But cracks are punished.

A good performance summons pressure.

I crack under pressure.

Now like I said I’m not a good actor.

These days I try to avoid acting,

you can’t have a bad performance

if you never hit the stage.

I remember,

back when directors loved me for acting natural.

I don’t know what changed.

All I know is that they hate that role now,

they want more,

they hate those performances,

say they convey a different message,

like 18 years of the person I’ve always been

was just memoir they pretended to enjoy.

Quoting old shows they “loved”

to prove how much they hate me.

Then they wonder why I avoid performing.

I’m still a good actor,

my shows are for my crowd.

Not Them anymore.
