A Girl on The Train

Updated: Jul 16

By Chinmay Kakade

Straight from the heavy rain entered a sunshine in the train

She glanced at me while taking her seat, gave me a sweet smile which

made my heart skip a beat

The train had moved from the platform I didn't even realise

I was fixated on her wet hair which barely covered her eyes

It had barely been ten minutes since I saw her, but the thoughts of being with her

made me shiver instead of her

She was now sitting cross legged bare feet on her already wet seat

reading a piece of fiction I'd never even seen

We never really looked each other in the eyes

but our reflections through the window glanced at each other many times

The train now came to a halt, she picked up her case and hurried through the platform

when she turned around to give me a last smile

That smile pierced through my soul, made my heart ache

for it made me realise that if I had tried, I could’ve had made her mine
