A Day In The Sun

The birds chirrup to sing the morning’s song;

Morning passes to time and birdsong ends.

Dawn lives to be sweeter than it lives long;

It holds more hope than around bitter bends.

Midday comes and the day is half-over;

The sun peaks, never above and beyond.

Its rise lives fated to fall to be sure;

Destined to impermanence in a bond.

Shadows grow heavy in the light of day;

The weight of darkness is hauntingly real.

This aching inside never goes away;

It grows until it is all I can feel.

The day fades where it once lived to be fine,

Deep within these withering bones of mine.
