Ek bewonder hoe jy vasklou

aan die kindjie binne jou

wat mal is oor Lego

en blokkiesbou

Hy bou ‘n huisie, vir jou en vir my:

‘n sitkamer met ‘n kaggel,

‘n Nimmerdroom om in te bly,

waar elke lag, traan en liefdekrummel

die brandstof is wat hy nodig kry

Hy bou ‘n 737 om my te kom haal

waarmee ons vlieg na Nimmerland

jy wou my jou grootwordhuis en kleuterskool wys

daar onder in Bloubergstrand

Maar ‘n swerwer bly blou,

of hy kind is, of agter ‘n baard kou

hy bou en breek; breek en bou

want hy het nog nie geleer

watter huisies hy heel mag hou

Toe doof hy ons kaggel uit

en buig die skoorsteen krom

laat die 737 se brandstof leegloop

voor ons ooit by Nimmerland kon kom

Tog sal ek jou bly bewonder, Peter Pan

vir hoe jy vry vaar, swaartekrag bedrieg

nooit sal jy kluisenaar bly

in ‘n huis wat jou te nou wieg

nie eers vir my

Mag jy genoeg brandstof kry

om by Nimmerland te kom

al vlieg jy my huisie verby

en sien

my kwynende

kaggelvlam

stik.
