श्रृंगार - A Wife’s Prayer

By Astha

Thinking about you while doing श्रृंगार,

शास्त्रों में लिखा है — it’s all written in the stars.

I ask God to bless you as I put on my attire,

Remembering the vows encircling the altar fire.

On my head, माँगटीका I place,

May God bless you with a smile on your face.

May the flowers in my hair awaken your senses,

May the बिंदी help you focus your lenses.

May the काजल protect you from the evil eye,

May the झुमका bring you joy and pride.

May the नथ bless you with prosperity,

And the हार connect you to your masculinity.

The बाजूबंद locks good luck and success,

With these खनकती चूड़ियाँ, may your heart remain blessed.

The अंगूठी graces you with endless love,

The colour of मेहंदी lifts your destiny above.

May the कमरबंद give you strength and grace,

The छन छन of पायल fills your world with laughter’s embrace.

The बिछिया wards off every negativity,

The इतर strengthens your memory and serenity.

Finally,May the कुमकुम bless you with a long life,

Dear husband,Prays your wife….
