A Future So Azure

By Inayah Fathima Faeez

Tomorrow looms unsure, muffled by the deep

Thumbs twiddling, barriers never-ending, failure and nothing to reap

At the shore lie the choices, imposing, leading to journeys impossible to see

Below the crashing waters lies what might or might not be

And it all comes down to the passion for a future so azure

Love and laughter and smiles and support make success so easy to lure

The turbulence retreats into the night, splashing out of the way

Newborn vision bright and burning, smudging out the dark and grey

And it all comes down to foresight, to knowing the right route

To the sole traveler leading his comrades, with wisdom and a horn to toot

It all claws onto vision, vision that pounces at the menacing tide

It all comes down to knowing which high is best to ride

Stunning is the winner, tough and glinting clear

Like the ocean after the storm, when you know there’s nothing to fear

Like the dreams achieved and milestones marked, a story worth telling ; an art

All because there was once a vision, and a beautiful tale weaved right from a timid

start
