वर्गीकरण या विभाजन

प्रस्तावना

यह निबंध वर्गीकरण और विभाजन के बीच के सूक्ष्म अंतर को समझने का प्रयास है। इसमें स्त्री–पुरुष, वर्ण व्यवस्था और सामाजिक पहचान जैसे उदाहरणों के माध्यम से यह विचार प्रस्तुत किया गया है कि वर्गीकरण का उद्देश्य समझ और संतुलन था, किंतु जब वही पहचान और अहंकार का आधार बन गया, तब वह विभाजन में बदल गया। यह रचना सामाजिक समस्याओं की जड़ को बाहरी व्यवस्थाओं में नहीं, बल्कि मानव चेतना की सीमाओं में खोजने का एक विनम्र प्रयास है।

जब समझ बंधन बन जाती है :

मनुष्य को समझने के लिए बनाए गए वर्गीकरण ही आज मनुष्य को सबसे अधिक बाँट रहे हैं। यह विडंबना नहीं, बल्कि हमारी दृष्टि की सीमा है।

वर्गीकरण का उद्देश्य कभी विभाजन नहीं था। यह तो एक साधन था—जटिलता को समझने का, जीवन को संतुलित करने का। परंतु जब साधन को ही सत्य मान लिया गया, तब वही साधन बंधन बन गया।

स्त्री और पुरुष का भेद भी इसी भूल का उदाहरण है। जो भेद चेतना के दो पूरक आयामों को समझने के लिए था, वही आज संघर्ष का कारण बन गया है। हमने रूप को पकड़ लिया, पर अर्थ को खो दिया। परिणामस्वरूप, पूरकता प्रतिस्पर्धा में बदल गई।

यही गलती समाज की संरचनाओं में भी दोहराई गई। प्राचीन वर्ण व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य विभाजन नहीं, बल्कि संतुलन था—गुण, कर्म और स्वभाव के आधार पर एक लचीला वर्गीकरण। यह व्यवस्था गतिशील थी, स्थिर नहीं। इसीलिए इतिहास में ऐसे उदाहरण मिलते हैं जहाँ सीमाएँ स्थायी नहीं थीं और व्यक्ति ने अपने जन्म-परिचय से आगे बढ़कर कर्म के आधार पर अपनी भूमिका निभाई।

परंतु समय के साथ, यह वर्गीकरण पहचान में बदल गया, और पहचान अहंकार में। जहाँ लचीलापन था, वहाँ कठोरता आ गई। जहाँ समझ थी, वहाँ तुलना ने जन्म लिया और उससे श्रेष्ठता-हीनता का भाव। और यहीं से वर्गीकरण, विभाजन में परिवर्तित हो गया।

समस्या व्यवस्था में नहीं थी, बल्कि उस चेतना में थी, जिसने भेद को अंतिम सत्य मान लिया। जब मनुष्य किसी एक पहचान से स्वयं को बाँध लेता है, तो वह उसी पहचान के भीतर सीमित हो जाता है—और वही सीमा उसके संबंधों और समाज में भी प्रकट होती है।

"हर वर्गीकरण सत्य का संकेत मात्र है, स्वयं सम्पूर्ण सत्य नहीं।" वह हमें दिशा देता है, परंतु गंतव्य नहीं होता। जैसे ही हम उसे अंतिम मान लेते हैं, हम उसके बंधन में आ जाते हैं।

आज आवश्यकता वर्गीकरण को समाप्त करने की नहीं, बल्कि उसे उसके सही स्थान पर रखने की है। जब हम भेद को समझने का माध्यम मानते हैं, तब वह संतुलन लाता है। पर जब हम उसे अपनी पहचान बना लेते हैं, तब वही भेद दूरी बन जाता है।

अंततः, मनुष्य का सबसे बड़ा भ्रम यही है कि वह अपने ही बनाए विभाजनों को सत्य मान बैठता है। जब समझ बंधन बन जाती है, तब समाज नहीं—चेतना विभाजित होती है। और जहाँ चेतना विभाजित होती है, वहाँ विभाजन से द्वैत जन्म लेता है, द्वैत से द्वन्द्व, और वही द्वन्द्व जीवन को कुरुक्षेत्र में बदल देता है।
