मेरी लाश को जरा देर से जलाना

मेरी लाश को ज़रा देर से जलाना,

न जाने किसकी राह तकूँगी मैं,

मुझे ज़रा ठहर कर उठाना।

मेरी आँखों को ज़रा देर से बंद करना,

कितनी दुनिया देखी ही नहीं,

कितना देख कर भी रह गया भरम सा।

मेरी लाश को ज़रा सलीके से सजाना,

ये जिस्म अभी आदतों से बिछड़ रहा होगा,

इसे हल्के से सहलाना।

मुझे ज़रा हल्के से उठाना,

मिट्टी से रिश्ता मेरा गहरा रहा है,

इसलिए आसमान भी अजनबी सा लगेगा।

मेरी लाश को ज़रा देर से जलाना,

वो मेरे लिए तड़प रही होगी,

मैं उसकी राह तकूँगी, पर उसे फिर भी जलना होगा।

कितनी ख़ुदगर्ज़ हूँ मैं -

यही वो सोच रही होगी,

पर उसे भी अग्नि-परीक्षा का बोझ उठाना होगा।

मेरे कर्मों की सज़ा उसे मिलेगी,

तो मैं उसकी ख़ामोशी का जर्म उठा लूँगी,

पर मेरी जगह यहीं है,

उसे ही आगे बढ़ जाना होगा।

मेरी लाश को ज़रा देर से जलाना,

बस इतना देखना है जाते वक़्त -

क्या उसे भी ये सब बताना होगा?
