तुम्हारा होना मेरे जीने की वजह था

तुम्हारा होना महज़ इत्तेफ़ाक़ नहीं,

तुम मेरे जीने की वजह थे।

तुम मुझे छोड़कर क्यों चले गए?

क्या मैं तुम्हारी कोई न थी?

खैर, गलत थी जो तुम्हें अपना मान बैठी,

या अपने से ज़्यादा मान बैठी।

पता था नहीं आओगे लौटकर,

अरे, एक दफ़ा कह देते कि मैं तुम्हें पसंद नहीं।

मैं स्वीकार लेती कि तुम अब मेरे नहीं।

हाँ, तुम्हारा होना महज़ इत्तेफ़ाक़ नहीं,

तुम मेरे जीने की वजह थे।

मैंने महज़ एक वादा माँगा था,

क्या हद से ज़्यादा माँग लिया?

साथ तेरा जन्मों-जन्म माँगा था,

हाँ, तुम्हें सिर्फ़ अपना माना था।

क्यों प्रत्योत्तर में इतना नहीं कह पाए?

माँगा जो नहीं दे पाए।

अच्छा, माना तुम नहीं कह पाए,

अब बहुत हुआ, तुम सही पर मैं भी गलत नहीं।

तुम्हें मिला कोई ओर, और मुझे

स्वीकार नहीं कोई ओर।

तुम्हें मैं स्वीकार नहीं,

और मुझे तुम्हारे सिवाय कोई स्वीकार नहीं।

अब तुम्हें इस रिश्ते से मुक्त किया,

जाओ, तुम्हें आज़ाद किया।

हाँ, तुम्हारा होना महज़ इत्तेफ़ाक़ नहीं,

तुम मेरे जीने की वजह थे।
