ख़्वाहिश या फ़ितरत

ख़्वाहिशें अनकही रह जाती हैं

ज़िंदगी के इस सफ़र में,

धूप-बारिश सब आती हैं,

पर न आती वह ज़िंदगी की लहर

जो बहा ले जाए दिन के आख़िरी उजाले

और धुँधलाती शाम की तरफ़।

धीमी हवाएँ जो छू जाएँ चेहरा,

साँझ के आगोश में,

पर सपनों में अब रह गया है बस अलफ़।

गीली घास की महक में हो जाऊँ मशरूफ़।

खोट शायद ख़्वाहिशों में नहीं,

है बस अपनी फ़ितरत की आड़ में-

जो पानी में देखे ज़मीन के ख़्वाब,

और ज़मीन पर पानी के।
