एक लड़की मिली आज हमें,

नाम था उसका आरज़ू ।

नूर से भरपूर आँखें थी उसकी,

करती खुदसे ही कुछ गुफ़्तगू।

कुछ बात हुई उससे तो जाना उसको,

पसंद हैं चाँद सितारे उसको,

रात को ओढ़ती आसमान की चादर है,

दिन में कलियों से भरा दामन है।

बोली अब सितारे मिलने नहीं आते,

खिड़की से उसको आवाज़ नहीं लगाते,

आते भी हैं तो गले नहीं लगाते,

हाथ बढ़ाऊँ तो अपनी ओर नहीं ले जाते।

हम इतने से समझ गये जादू है वो,

ना जाने कैसे पर इस दुनिया की दीवानी है वो,

फूल, रंग, तितली, भावरों, कलियों सी मस्तानी है वो,

जीवन की जत्तोजेहद से अनजानी है वो।

हम पूरे रास्ते दुआ करते आए हैं,

के वो इस दुनिया से बेगानी ही रहे,

अपनी उस दुनिया की परवानी ही रहे।

हमने भी अपने बारे में बताया उसको,

बोलते कम है थोड़ा समझ आया उसको,

उसने हमारी ख्वाइश पूछी हमसे,

हमें तो पता नहीं क्या बताये उसको।

यूँ ही भाता नहीं हमें वैसे कोई है,

पर ना जाने क्यों,

जबसे मिले उससे हैं,

तबसे,

एक वो आरज़ू, 

एक उसकी आरज़ू।
