उजाड़ में फूल नहीं खिलते

पतझड़ से जीवन में अचानक कहाँ से बहार आई,

पता ही न चला कब तूने जीवन में जगह बनाई।

मन के खाली आँगन पर तूने हल्की-सी जो दस्तक लगाई,

हर कोने में खिलखिलाती बहार छाई।

जिस दिन के होने का एहसास भी न था, उसकी धड़कन की गूँज नस-नस में समाई,

बारिश की कुछ बूँदें, अंतस तक पहुँचीं, सोंधी-सी महक जैसे बिखरने को छटपटाई।

लेकिन कुछ उजाड़ ऐसे होते हैं जहाँ फूल नहीं खिला करते।

कुछ वीराने ऐसे होते हैं जिनको झींगुर भी नहीं गुंजायमान करते।

तेरी दस्तक, तेरे कदम, तेरी आहट भीतर आने से पहले ही खो गई।

यह सूनी शजर, बंजर ही रह गई, इस दिल पर रही अमावस ही छाई।

यह तो आदि है तमस का, अँधेरों में रह लेगा, पर बिना इजाज़त तेरा नाम तो रटेगा।

जो कभी पूरे ना हों, वो सपने भी संजोएगा और हर पल तेरी बाट भी जोहेगा।

तूने जीने को कहा है तो जिएगा,

पर हर साँस के साथ एक सवाल बना रहेगा।

कब और क्या भूल हमसे हुई?

कैसे और क्यों तेरी सरपरस्ती हमने खोई?

क्यों ही था तूने हमें अपनाया?

ना जाने कौन-सी भूल करके हमने तुम्हें गँवाया?
