आखिर क्यों?

है क्या सच, जो मालूम नहीं किसी को?

कहते हैं-अभी तो सच बता दो।

बोलते हैं, बड़ों से झूठ मत बोलो।

आखिर क्यों, आखिर क्यों?

बोलते हैं-कभी तो हमारी सुन।

आखिर क्यों, आखिर क्यों?

दिल में बज रही इस धुन को

क्यों कर दिया अनसुना हमने?

आज़ादी की तो बात होती रहती है,

लेकिन क्या हम अपने आँसुओं को आज़ाद करते हैं?

क्यों दबा लेते हैं हर तकलीफ़,

हर दर्द अपने अंदर?

कोई पूछे-“क्या हुआ?”

मुस्कुराहट को थामे हुए,

अंदर से टूटते हुए,

क्यों देते हैं जवाब?

क्यों डरते हैं बह जाने से?

एक आँसू की भी तो आवाज़ होती है,

फिर क्यों रोक देते हैं उस आवाज़ को?

जो रोते हैं, वो कमज़ोर नहीं,

अपने दर्द को स्वीकार करने का

साहस रखते हैं।

आँखों से आँसू बहाना

किसी की कमजोरी नहीं।

अरे, मुस्कुराओ, रोओ, हँसो-

बस डरना मत।

तुम्हारा सबसे बड़ा साथ

तुम्हारा अपना साथ है।

कहते हैं, यहाँ कितने सारे लोग

गुमसुम रहते हैं।

तो आखिर क्यों है

इतनी उदासी भरी हुई दुनिया में?

मनाने वाला बचा ही नहीं,

और रोने को चाहता है ये दिल-

तो आखिर क्यों नहीं रो लेता ये दिल?

बहने दो उन्हें,

बोलने दो उन्हें सच।

जो भी दर्द है, उसे बहने दो,

अपनी आत्मा को हल्का महसूस करने दो।

आखिर एक टूटे हुए इंसान को

और कितना तोड़ोगे तुम?

आखिर क्यों रोते हैं?
