Égaré

By Olivia Merrie Roldant

All that was for nothing,

Efforts thrown away

People still are waiting,

Like I’m some prey.

Acting like I’m special,

Searching for a sign,

Draining all my value,

Like I’m not even mine.

You think that I am fine,

But I’m drowning in the line

Like a pen that’s running dry,

I’m fading, asking why.

You pull me like a magnet,

Won’t let me stay where I choose,

Tugging on my every move,

With nothing left to lose.
