You Will Survive

Nobody taught you how to love,

You learnt from everyone else,

How you cried yourself to sleep,

How your mind was unrest.

Remember that song you heard on loop,

The bird that came to your window,

Little moments of joy,

Keeps you afloat tempest.

The world was at war, racing men,

Children were taught to kill,

Countries disconnected from us,

Yet you slept in your warm bed,

Unaware of dread.

Wake up everyday,

Sill finding purpose to life?

Maybe there is no meaning,

Had you the power, your soul needed cleaning.

Stop! You have no control,

Feelings are at bay,

Vanquished by your own kind,

Memories you create.

Live-breathe-you continue to survive,

Cast calm in a situation which begs chaos,

Compassion moulds you in a way,

Urging you to be weak,

Instead strengthening you each day.
