You Knew It

You knew it, didn't you?

The year that will become last

The year onwards we will be just past,

The year love will start to fade

The year that will etch itself with double-edged blade.

You knew it, didn't you?

The month my tears would run dry

The month that won't be worth another try,

The month the fingers would for the last fit

The month that would last but only for a bit.

You knew it, didn't you?

The day it will all become unbearing

The day when leaving would be easier than loving,

The day your touch will become strange

The day our relationship will change.

You knew it, didn't you?

The moment I would choose silence

The moment I will prefer your absence,

The moment history will be redrawn

The moment I would wish you were long gone.

And yet, You kept me going

Down on my knees, begging,

Dangling to the last hope

Holding in my hand, my heart, broke,

Dwindling on the thought of beginning

While my world kept crashing, crippling,

You don't know what happened after

I was left cleaning your disaster.

A disaster, I never dreamt of

The last goodbye, no words thereof,

I sat on the floor, tears rolling

Your thoughts in my mind, no controlling,

Wondering what turns life had taken

Cursing the moment our love was forsaken.

I crawled, it ached, as I shut the door

Crashed with tears and blood on floor,

Blood was yours, and the tears mine

Never knew the dark side of something so divine,

I leapt once more and wailed in vain

Love was gone, my mind insane.

You knew the end, from the start

Now all I have is a helpless heart,

The heat, the spark, the chemistry all gone

Stumbling and falling, I try to be strong,

Fate met us, ended our story

And I weep through nights, in memory.

What if I knew

What would I have done

Leapt for the end, or no change

Strangers to lovers, or remain estranged,

I know if I knew, we would still be here

Loved you the same with no fear.

But now I think of all the time

When instead of no, I said it’s fine,

Gave you chances and the key to my heart

But all you did was break me apart,

And all that started with love songs and mystery

But now, I'm alone, living in misery.

Losing faith in love, every day

Treating people like no one will stay,

I told you, you were last, for better or worse

Now your last words are my curse,

I remain alone, talk to only few

But you knew it, knew it all, didn't you?
