You Are The Life I Live For

When the world has fallen asleep

I will be awake to guard you deep

When rain pours and no one glides

I will be shelter protecting from the tides

When you are lost on a broken road

I will carve a path to your abode

When darkness rises to dim your sight

I will gleam for you like beacon light

If pain dares your skin to see

I will bear its rage and set you free

If grief ever claims your touch

Into my eyes, its tears clutch

I will stand for you, when the world turns cold

I will bestow my strength on you to keep you bold

No storm can scare me, no fear can tear me

For you are my shore, my coast, my sea

This is no sacrifice I choose to do

Nor a grand display to amuse a few

I hold no hope for gain or narcissistic bliss

I fulfill because you rightly deserve this

I chart my dreams which for now, can sleep

While preserving your tranquility, a vow I keep

The roots of my tree devote all their worth

To nourish a soul divine like yours on this Earth
