It wasn’t a normal happy childhood,

Though I had both the parents and a sibling.

I always found so hard to be understood,

Therefore, leaving no room for any special memories lingering.

But my mother always said there was nobody to help,

Thereby slowly instilling the weight of having to become someone big.

My father too busy to talk and delve,

Hence neither had parties, fun nor gig.

Reflecting on my younger years, I see a solitary soul,

Constantly reading schoolbooks in that dull soulless room.

If not that, by the window, I'd sit and ponder,

Dreaming of worlds, far and yonder.

The younger child in me yearned for love,

Which she didn’t know that was the word back then.

Oh, how she wishes her ears would be filled with kind words and bliss,

But instead, was made to run, run and run.

As I grew, I found myself falling in love beyond words,

And I felt with all my heart, mind and sinews that he was the one.

Only to realise that love was a matter of two and I was all alone,

And that he quickly fell in love with someone else.

Oh! The realisation kicked slow and hard,

That I lost him long before the bond could take a real form.

And all the love I had for him,

Had to find its way outside through my tears rolling.

Little by little I could see,

That the world might not think twice before hurting someone.

And therefore, take time to grieve and make art on the loss,

But always come back and love yourself for you are all you have.
