Words Mere Words

Between words there lies a power so profound, yet absurd,

weaving tales of my despair in a mournful verse.

Like withered petals, the symphony of your vows decayed,

once vibrant and promising, now bleak and frayed.

Your promises succumbed to the ghost of the night

as I grappled with uncertainty amidst my plight.

They couldn't withstand the trials of the hour,  the test of time

for they were merely words basking in pretence, coupled in a deceitful rhyme.

The deceit that danced upon your lips,

undeterred by storms, laden with syllables and quips.

With your fancy tongue and malicious intent,

words were no longer merely words but a source of torment.
