Woods

I turn around every time

Before I move to a new world

And every time I gaze back

I leave behind a piece of me

My mind is the woods

And my thoughts, it's branches intertwined

I'm afraid I'll freeze soon

A story lost in time

I watched the fireflies and broke free

Only to discover, the wolves were after me

It took me some time but

I learned acceptance is the key

I closed my eyes and I could see

I was my wolf and she was me

The woods, then, because my home

And the stars began to guide me

I shall be running Through my Meadows

Greeting spring with my fingertips

Looking back with grateful eyes

And charging forward with a smile on my lips
