Women Empowernment

By Siya Gusain

Wearing modern clothes by ditching traditional, people will doubt on your character. Doing late night shifts at your work place, people will comment and question “What kind of work is there, that you have to work till so late?” and if a man does the same people will appreciate his hard work.

The stereotypical role of a girl is to grow up to a women, get married, give birth to kids and look after the family. Girls and women are expected to dress in typically feminine ways and be polite, accommodating, and nurturing.

But if we compare today’s era with the past, then here our government needs to be appreciated. Years ago people used to kill the girl child at birth and also the sati system, but now the case is not same. 20 March 1870 was the date from when the killing of the girl child was declared illegal through the Female Infanticide Prevention Act, 1870 (Act VIII of 1870) and on December 4, 1829 Lord Bentinck issued Regulation XVII declaring Sati to be illegal and punishable in criminal courts.

Through these the laws the government gave girls the right to live, but unfortunately even today there are people who believe that daughter’s are burden and do not spend on their education. Hence, every that girl is killed form inside because they do have the right to live but their dreams do not.

Today’s youth is suffering through so many gender discrimination problems, no education, can’t wear clothes of their choice, permitted to visit only selected places, marriage pressure and much more. Even after marriage, if a women is facing domestic violence, then she getting tortured physically and mentally daily and staying quit is way more acceptable by the society that she speaking it out, getting out of it and taking some strict action against the man.

Well even after these barriers, there are many girls who have proved this thought wrong and have set an example for so many young girls. Girls in every single now have the strength to fight for freedom, they are working and enjoying their lives as they want to, keeping the society aside.

May that be in the field of sports, politics, business or anything we’re not less than anyone. Mithali Raj, Kalpana Chawla. Manushi Chillar, Urvashi Rautella and Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu have made India proud. All of them are women and have struggled to achieve their titles. This proves that we can do anything if our will power and dedication towards our goal is sturdy, the society is no one to stop us.

There are many people who have changed their thoughts regarding this topic, but we can say that the middle and high class society are still not ready to adapt and give that required freedom to the girls because they have not been educated regarding this topic and have grown up in such a place where this is not an important topic.

I feel that every other person is different and it’s not practically possible to change everone’s mindset.

It’s been years that we’ve been suffering but now enough, now it’s time to come out speak and prove ourselves.

The sky is big and it’s for you to fly in the air. Let the world see you, listen to yourself, to your heart. Like others even you get your life once, live it to the fullest. People and society will always comment negative but now it’s our duty to live a respectful life and give freedom to our dreams.
