Woman In The Mirror

Spent most of her girlhood, counting sleepless nights,

and shed late night tears.

Confined within the walls of her anxious mind, drowned deep inside the ocean of fears.

Breaking into pieces with each passing day, she was suffering within this mind-body fight.

Everything was gloomy and she had enough of it, when realization struck her

she knew by the end of tunnel there was light.

It took a lot of nerve

to stand up against her past self,

bits of darkness itself ignited the flame of strength.

Every day was a challenge

she went for each one of them valiantly

nothing could break her as she was one of a gem. As I look into the mirror now,

she appears to me as one strong and independent woman,

who has beautifully molded all her scars to beauty,

carries herself with grace and zest is etched in her soul.

She has come a long way and still has a long way to go, there is no turning back.

Turned from frail and frightened girl to a fearless woman

the way a caterpillar metamorphoses into butterfly. Like Ruppell's griffon vulture,

she will keep soaring high in the wide blue sky.
