With Humanity,To Humankind, From a Human.

By Zainab Shahid

No beast could ever prove to be so barbarous as a man,

in a manner so artfully, so artistically sadistic.

In nature's realm, balance and harmony endeavour to reign,

yet the psyche of man knows only to covet that which he, in his capacity as a mere mortal, must not possess.

With callous deeds and scheming wits,

he crafts woeful weapons of destruction and ruin.

In the name of revolution, he ravages Mother Earth,

ignoring nature's grievous entreaties for

forbearance.

His innovative ability knows not of precincts,

as he smears the canvas of the world with the hues of sorrow.

Then he feigns the forte of a sculptor,

as he carves out horrendous wars, with blood and tears as his colourants.

No other transient creature could possess such might,

to orchestrate darkness with such delight.

But in his artistry that renders the Earth beguiled, he can also forge,

a world of altruism and solicitude begetted by the flames of disaster.

Humankind may prove to be atrocious but is a million things more,

among them, they possess the power to bestow,

compassion, endearment and empathy,

allowing humanity's true essence to be divulged.

No animal could ever be so heinous as a man,

so artfully, so artistically heinous.

Yet within the depths of his spirit, a flair lies,

to heal the wounds of his brethren, to partake and alleviate his fellow beings' sufferings.
