With All my Heart

I can't love you with all my heart-- not when you broke

it from the start. So, I drown in my grief, in the

dark of this grave, convincing myself this is what it took to be brave.

I know you didn't mean to. You didn't mean to make me cry--

you 'didn't mean' to leave me with the coldest goodbye.

But you didn't mean to love me either. You say otherwise--

but have you seen the way you look into my eyes?

Maybe you were looking through your own eyes in mine, but

you looked at me nonetheless. And still, I didn't mind. You

stared through the windows of my soul. And before

those windows were closed, sealed and shut- how foolish

of me to open my blinds just this once.

In all honesty, it was a sight to behold, a sight engraved

forever. It was your eyes that told me:

"You should've known better."

Like how the sunlight coaxes me to stay inside on a very

bright day, I stepped out into a moonlit haze- but instead,

by your light, I was swept away.

And I still stand here. I still wait. I don't exactly 'let' time

pass by - because while I wait, time won't comply.

Yet still, I try.

Because the moon doesn't walk alone in the silence of night.

The stars accompany it while it waits for the sun to shine.

And though time runs as it passes by, the stars remain in the

sky.

If half of my heart is what I hold in my hands, then I will

gladly let it all be consumed by one man.

So, I hold on to it tight whilst I dream of the moments we'll

never have, because closing my eyes is all l can do. And

until the sun proves me otherwise, these windows will stay

shut.
