Wine Thoughts

By Hector Lopez Jaime

i can think of at least 5 things worse

than killing myself, one of them is

having to work for a living when

it should be the other way around

next up is having a mind which

can’t see or won’t think that

life is more valuable than cash

the last three are just reds

shit make that the vinos in general

they’re good fuel for poems

odds are i’ve typed more on the vino

a burning goes through me, one

that i’ve never had sober

but read them

bitter like metal

carmine like blood

it’s not like they’re

worth all that,

some of my worst shit

truth be told

if nothing else they have

the spirit of wine in them

even if they could do without

even if i can’t
