Will You Still Hold Me?

By Sanjita Banerjee

The city lights flicker across my room.

The apartment is filled with silence,

Even when I’m alone in crowds,

My memories don't turn me away.

So when I drown in my demons,

Will you still hold me?

The mundane life gives me an illusion of peace,

But reality steals it like a thief,

And I’m tired of meaningless apologies.

My life is a masterpiece of fickle mess.

So, when I'm not ready to face them,

Will you still hold me?

The heart of my home reeks of your influence,

When painful echoes of the past haunt me,

They are my only comfort in your absence.

Even when I know you are there for me,

Just for the sake of my sanity,

Will you still hold me?
