I am not a mirror, because I could never be your reflection. I am not a clone; being your copy would bring me no joy. I am not who you think - that person has never had to hide. I am more than a stranger, but you have never recognised me.

However, I can be what you need, only for a moment. If it brings you comfort; I’ll tell you my name. Will this feel more real than the memory you have of me? My love, do you recognise me? Do you know who I am?

“Don’t worry dear, I am a friend; I knew you long ago.” “Your smile has always brightened everyone’s day.” “It is as radiant as the stars.” “I like stars, have you seen them?” “No. Would you show them to me later?” “Yes, but why the tears?”

“I fear my true love has forgotten me, and may never remember.” “Well, I like you. Maybe we can be friends and heal your heart.”
