Life

I stand alone,

in the middle of the lawn.

My time paused for a moment

to study the world around me.

On my right— worth a sight.

He, caring for his mother,

feeding her with love.

Quite a turn around— worth dashed to the ground— to see another man

drop his father

at an old-age home.

Some men walked past me,

a cigar in hand.

Four wheels halted in a corner,

the glass rolled down,

and rubbish flew out

onto the ground.

A lady, dressed in old rags,

walked towards and swept away

the scattered waste.

Hand in hand,

garlands around their necks,

a couple walked behind me.

She hid herself

in her smile— a pair of eyes

dreaming of tomorrow.

Dressed in white,

another walked beside me,

with a pair of eyes

filled with pain.

I wonder— who stole her mate?

I realized—

Where am I?

Life is a maze

of ups and downs.

All together,

we somehow survive.

One comes to hurt; another finds a way to heal.

Realizing quietly that life and nature are never one-way roads,
