Why Do We Grow Up?

I used to skip stones,

and stop to smell the roses.

I visited my dreams happily,

and now, my affability has worn off.

I cut off the thorns of our roses and let them

grace my neck.

My nightmares become ambrosia compared to my reality.

My hands fail to grasp the idea of happiness

as I fall

and fall

and fall

into a deep avalanche of nothingness

that consists of my life.
