Whispers Of The Seven Seas

By Srividhya Srinivasan

Over the seven seas, the wind did roam,

A wanderer with tales to call its own,

It whispered through the azure, far and wide,

Its secrets carried on the endless tide.

With the breath of ancient mariners' dreams,

It danced 'cross waves, beneath the moon's soft beams,

Through every vessel's rigging, it did play,

A symphony of journeys, night and day.

On the Atlantic, wild and tempestuous,

It howled with fury, fierce and tumultuous,

But calmed to gentle zephyrs by the shore,

As sailors reached the lands they'd longed for.

The Indian Ocean, warm and turquoise blue,

It murmured tales of spices, rich and true,

Carried ships to lands of vibrant hues,

Where trade and cultures mingled and diffuse.

In the Southern Ocean, cold and vast,

It sang a lonesome, haunting tune, steadfast,

As icy waves and albatrosses glide,

In solitude, 'neath skies so open wide.

Through the Pacific's boundless, endless sprawl,

It whispered secrets of the rise and fall,

Of islands in the sun, where coconuts sway,

Where the ocean's melodies held sway.

The Arctic Ocean, frigid, stark, and bold,

It swept through snow and ice, a story told,

Of polar bears and narwhals, kings of the north,

Where beauty thrives, and treacherous is its course.

The Black Sea, kissed by cultures of the east,

The wind carried spices, tales, and feasts,

Where empires rose and fell, history's stage,

And ancient shores marked every turning page.

On the Red Sea, where coral reefs do bloom,

It sang of colors, vibrant as a plume,

Where sun and sea in harmony embrace,

A haven for life in an arid place.

Now, in the seven seas, the wind's refrain,

Whispers of journeys on the boundless main,

Through ages past and those still yet to be,

It tells the tale of a world so free.

I, now, yearn for the smell of the sea,

And the taste of salt in every breeze.

My old dreams of traveling the Grand Line,

All came rushing back to me.

I just wandered around the world, over the seven seas - a traveler on a boat made of words strung together!
